Production Associate, Random House Children's Books (Hybrid)

What was your favorite book when you were a kid? Did you love The Lorax? Or the Berenstain Bears series? Do you remember reading a children's book that changed your life? If you want to be part of a team dedicated to the creation of new books for young and middle-grade readers, then this role is for you.

Bookmaking at Random House Children's Books is seeking a collaborative and detail-oriented Production Associate to join our picture books, graphic novels, and special markets team. In this role, you'll be managing the complete book production process from release of layout files to warehouse delivery and archiving final files in addition to supporting the team as needed. If you enjoy working on a variety of children's book formats including picture books, board books, and customized projects in a creative and team-oriented environment, this is an opportunity you don't want to miss!

The Random House Children's Book production department is filled with talented individuals who are passionate about making high-quality children's books. We work closely with editors, salespeople, and designers to carefully bring each project to fruition. This role reports to the Production Manager for the picture books, graphic novels, and special markets team, which handles titles for several imprints within Random House Children's Books including Crown, Doubleday, Golden Books, Knopf, Anne Schwartz Books, Make Me a World, Delacorte, Random House, Random House Studio, Rodale, Labyrinth Road, and Dragonfly; as well as customized projects for clients such as Kohl's and Dollywood.

The ideal Production Associate is day-one ready to be part of a fast-paced and collaborative group. You'll work closely with many colleagues in other departments within the division, especially Editorial, Managing Editorial, and Art/Design. The role is ideal for someone who is highly organized, can handle multiple tasks at one time in a deadline-driven environment, and is interested in further developing one's skills in the craft of bookmaking from the phases of paperback and hardcover book production.

The position of production associate at Random House Children's Books is a hybrid position with in-office responsibilities, which include but are not limited to color-correcting proofs, reviewing samples, using Epson proofers, and in-office meetings. We will consider candidates who can work from a commutable distance to our offices at 1745 Broadway, which includes the tri-state area (NJ, CT, & PA).

Please apply using our ATS system by May 16, 2024, and include your resume and cover letter for consideration. Before applying for any role at Penguin Random House we recommend you review our applicant resources page and FAQs page.

• Issuing prepress and manufacturing purchase orders and approving invoices
• Archiving of final print files
